Get to know Me
KAY GONZALES
I’m Kay, a photographer based in Spokane, Washington, specializing in creative portraiture, editorial imagery, and visual storytelling. Inspired by magazines, cinema, music culture, and atmosphere, my work focuses on creating imagery that feels immersive, intentional, and emotionally connected.
I’m drawn to collaborative projects that allow space for personality, environment, and storytelling to shape the final images. Rather than approaching photography as isolated moments, I often think in collections and visual sequences, creating work that feels cinematic, personal, and alive.
Alongside portrait photography, I also create artist visuals, behind-the-scenes content, and ongoing creative work for musicians, brands, and small businesses. My goal is always to create imagery that feels authentic to the people and stories being documented.

Why I do this
Photography has always been a way for me to connect creativity, emotion, and visual storytelling. I love building imagery that captures not only how something looked, but how it felt in the moment. Creating with others and helping bring ideas, personalities, and concepts to life is what continues to inspire me most.
How I work
I approach photography as a collaborative process, focusing on creating an environment that feels comfortable, intentional, and creatively open. I’m drawn to storytelling, atmosphere, and the small details that help images feel personal and connected. Whether working on portraits, artist visuals, or brand content, I aim to create imagery that feels authentic to the people and spaces being photographed.
Fun Facts about me
Before photography became my career, I was the editor-in-chief of my high school yearbook - which probably explains my love for visual sequencing, magazine layouts, typography, and storytelling through collections of images rather than just single photographs.
